The Process

Wheel-thrown ceramics are created in a series of steps. From start to finish, a single piece often takes a few weeks. This slow and deliberate practice requires intimate attention to every detail, resulting in truly unique pieces.

The speckles that form on the surface of some pieces are a result of the clay material, rather than the glaze. As naturally occurring iron deposits within the clay reach high temperatures in the kiln, a beautifully variegated pattern of "speckles" is created.

The Nature of Handmade

Please consider that each piece is entirely handmade, one at at time. Variations in form and finish (including color, texture, pattern and size) are both expected and embraced. No two pieces are identical. This is the beauty of handmade!

Care

All MIHO pieces are made out of durable, high-fire stoneware and are intended for everyday use. They are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe. However, ceramics are susceptible to damage if mishandled. Hand washing is recommended for ensured longevity.
